  • Day 15 and 16

    Day 15 - Tuesday, Feb. 9
So my dad wants to find out how are classes here so I guess I have to be descriptive.

SOSC 301J - Dictatorship - This class is cool. My professor is just funny, well he is an old man and he emphasize on certain words which makes the class interesting like 'VEEEEERRYY', or DOES NOT' with like the Chinese-English accent. He is a funny old man who knows what he is talking about. He showed us this little red book that had all of the quotes from certain dictators. It's kinda creepy learning about these dictators and what they did. This class seems hard, but I think I will learn a lot from it.

SOSC 119 - China and the World - This class is boring. I thought I would like this class since it is on the political/economics of China, but so far it's about why China did not experience the Industrial Revolution yet. The topic seems interesting and the class doesn't seem to be too hard, but this class is really boring. I think it's the way the professor is teaching. He wanted more discussion and participation, but we're in China. They don't learn things this way. At least I will learn something about China I guess..

LANG 113 - Putonghua for Non-Chinese Background Speakers - This class is fun. It is all exchange students who want to learn a little bit of Chinese. The way they speak in Mandarin is funny cause it's not in the correct pronunciation and their accent. loll Well I am learning the basics again. Kind of annoying, but some of the people there are funny. It's okay. I need to learn everything again anyway. Too bad my textbook doesn't have 'Ni yau cafe ma?' loll (inside joke of high school who took Chinese with me)

    Day 16 - Wed. Feb. 10
SOSC 319 - Population, Aging, and Mortality. I'll get back to this once I go to the class today.

  • Day 11, 12, 13, and 14 - Sick Days

I need to start putting the dates because I can't seem to remember much. I really need to blog more, but I'm just too lazy. Anyway...

    Day 11 - Friday, Feb. 5
No classes today, but everyone else have classes so I did laundry and was a bum. Nothing really happened. I just stayed in to watch Anime. haha. I am such a loser. My voice was starting to die though and I was starting to sound like a man. Went to LKF later to hang out. ;]

    Day 12 - Saturday, Feb. 6
I went to Mong Kok East to go shopping. It was fun. We went to Grand Century Place to look around the mall. It was quite pretty. Then we went to Fa Yuen Street. We went around to all of the stores to buy some new clothes. I got this elegant looking dress. It's velvety blue and it's pretty. Only problem is that I have to find shoes to go with it. loll. My voice was okay, but I still sound like I'm getting sick. I was coughing on this day.

    Day 13 - Sunday, Feb. 7
RAIN! It was pouring rain. I didn't want to go out at all, but I had to eat, so I stayed in. The weather here is unstable. I felt really sick so I went to the supermarket and got Coltalin and this Chinese medicine thing. Coltalin knocked me out. loll. Apparently, I have been taking this Chinese medicine wrong all my life. I was supposed to make it like tea rather than taking it straight up. haha. Since it was raining, I stayed in throughout the day. I was coughing and I didn't look too good.

    Day 14 - Monday, Feb. 8
I was so sick. I had stuffy nose, but not really coughing. It's hard to breathe. :(

  • Day 8, 9, and 10

Pictures from previous days. BEAUTIFUL WEATHER

    Day 8
Today is actually my first day of classes. (I only have classes from Tuesdays-Thursdays) haha ;). They were interesting. One class is called Modern Dictatorship: West and East. We are mainly focusing on Hitler, Stalin, and Mao. Second class is called China and the World. This class is about political/economics of China and what it has to do with the world. Third class is a Language class in Putonghua aka Mandarin. I'm learning the basics again. I didn't really go out on this day.

    Day 9
Today I only have one class which starts at 6:30pm. So basically I have the whole day free. I found out where the gym was and worked out. I used the treadmill and I did a whole bunch of crunches. That's pretty much it. The weather sucked :( The last class I had is called Population, Aging, and Mortality. It's a 300 level class which grad students can take also. The professor taught at SUNY Albany. lol

    Day 10
Went to all three of my classes today. OMG my abs started hurting. I didn't think that my workout was intense. I thought I didn't do much since I am really not motivated at all to do much when I am working out alone. That sore muscles hurt all day. I better be getting those 6 packs from it. hahaha jk.

  • Day 6 and 7 - Aimlessly Lost

Xanga is so weird. When I uploaded the pictures, they told me that i could not upload anymore and that I would have to wait a month before I can upload again. However, I somehow magically can upload pictures again. I created a different blog account www.alivenotdead.com/minaaar just so I can update my blogs with pictures. This is so weird. I think I'm just going to have a double account or I might end up using the other one, depending on the situation I guess. Anyway

    Day 6
Went to Mong Kwok and got lost. Enough said. I walked around the same area like 3 times. It was so frustrating and I tried looking for the Computer Centre for the longest time and I still couldn't find it without Jess. I also tried looking for the HSBC Bank around too. OMG soooo freaking annoying. The map told you to go in one direction, but I kept on walking and it's not there. I ended up walking around the blocks a couple of times. I was wearing heels so my feet were dying. I had to buy boots or something cheap. They are cute I guess, but the quality isn't. Maybe that's why they are so cheap.

    Day 7 - 02/01/10
Today marks the first day of classes. It was interesting to see the campus so alive. There were so many people walking around. I feel like this school is very involved with the clubs or societies, as they call it. I can't wait until they start promoting and recruiting people. I kind of wish Stony was like that. Maybe then my school wouldn't be known as the #1 most depressing school. Anyway I went to Mong Kwok again to buy this audio extension cable so I can finally use the webcam.

We also went to Fa Yuen Street. The clothes there are more fashionable than Ladies Market. They are also cheaper, but it's much harder to bargain with them. I was pissed off that I saw the same boots for half the price here. At least now I know where to get cheap but decent looking clothes.

No pictures for these two days. Sorry
